Schützenvereine (shot associations)
The "Schützenvereine", as they mentioned in the german language be are a heritage of the german immigrants which brought this ideas with them to brasil. Today the grandsons and great-grandson of the immigrants are members of the numerous shot associations and in such a way, they hold the tradition erect which 1850 began. A great shot celebration occurs annually where the best shot to the "Rei do Tiro" (shot king) is crowned.
Always
in the month of June, the lovers of Italian music, gastronomy and high spirits meet
themselves in Blumenau. The event, organized by the city, is regarded as the greatest Italian celebration in southern Brazil. The celebration preserves a tradition which,
125 years ago, with the the arrival of the first Italian immigrants began.
The Italian culture in its whole abundance
The first edition of the "Festitalia" occurred in 1994, with the destination of activation of the "Italian colony" and for a bigger circulation of the Italian culture. The Italian immigrants and its descendants represent today more than 50% of the total population in the Itajaital. In Blumenau itself it is 23%.
However, the celebration is also known for its competitions in the "Trucospiel", a classical card game and for that "national spaghetti eating competition" (spaghetti with one metre). At the latter one, various pairs line up against each other. Every couple divides for itself a metre of spaghetti, with the destination to eat itself as rapid as possible to the middle of the noodle. Winner is the pair which meets itself first in the middle of the noodle for the kiss. To be noticed, the noodle must remain whole and must not fall down. But furthermore, the celebration also offers a lot of music, concerts and dance performances.

The "FESTITALIA" offers a rich food plan for every taste. Among
other things there are: Antipasti, Spaghetti & Pasta, Polenta (a kind
chip frit from corn flour), cold plates, Pizzas & calzones, Lasagnes,
typical meat & poultry courts, a typical colonial coffee (comparably with a solid bread time)
and natural Italian ice cream.
And of course to this everything it must not missing a good italian wine.
the
romantic ones among the visitors shouldn´t miss the nights of the "Fest´italia"
with its concerts.
Famous bands and singers of the italian music which one already participated at the "Fest´italia" are among others: Gigliola Cinquetti, Jimmy Fontana, Nico Fidenco, Mafalda Minnozzi, Luciano Bruno, Ricardo Antonelli, Maria Nazionalle, Nadia Casadei and Il Grupo Italiano.
A traditional event which one since 1993 is organized through the organizer "CTG - Fogo de chăo" . Approx. 60.000 supporters of the "gaucho (cowboys from southern Brazil) " tradition meet here. The main attractions are the shows and the traditional dances. Parallel to this occurs the "EXPOFEIRA" (horse fair with the exhibition of different horse races and outfits). The horse celebration occurs every year in April on the ground of the Vila Germânica
During the motorcycle celebration, meet itself approx. 1500 motorcycle lovers. For most part the participants come from the states Paraná, Rio grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. The main attractions are presentations of radical sport activities, shows and concerts of regional and national bands and natural a motorcycle exposition. The Motorradfest occurs yearly in April on the place of the SESI.
International marathon from Blumenau
On the international marathon from Blumenau meet itself every year approx. 1600 athletes from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Brazil. Its routing and organization is praised by the participants. The way of its execution and the cold weather of the season add to its increasing success. Every year it occurs in the last week of July.
Festival of the Folklore dances
During the festival of the folklore dances, dancers of the most different cultures and races meet annually.
Dances and performances from all over the world mix themselves for a long time 5 days. Under them are Brazilian, German, Italian, Spanish, Ukrainian,
Russian, Argentine and Portuguese performances. Since beginning 1998, the festival has increased into size and shine constantly. In such a way, more than 800 dancers & dancers from all of Brazil met during the third edition already in June 2000. The festival of the
Folklore dances occurs every year in the third June week.
